What is Ignition?
Ignition is a set of tools for creating software applications.
Ignition is often used to create SCADA applications. SCADA stands for Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition. SCADA applications monitor and control devices, processes and activities. Data is collected, analyzed and formatted to produce valuable dashboards, charts and reports. Ignition is also used to create inventory systems, point of sale applications and other kinds of applications.
Ignition is a commercial software product developed by Inductive Automation. Its basic architecture is a free software platform from which "modules" of functionality and tools are built.
Inductive Automation and third-party developers develop new modules and sell them on the module marketplace website.
